Fall Glow at the Wetlands #2 ~ sold

I am inevitably driving “straight home” from Missoula without a camera or painting equipment when this last light coincides with fall foliage in the wetlands.  But a stormy day in Big Arm told me that the sunset process at Ninepipes would be a spectacular light show.  It changed so quickly that my end-of-painting session photos were terribly inadequate to convey the stunning display.  This is when painting from memory expresses itself, using photos simply to reference composition.  What a great way to the end the day!

Karen Maurer's 10" x 8" plein air oil painting "Fall Cattails" has been selected by Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell, MT for inclusion in its 7th Annual Hockaday Benefit Auction Miniatures & more.  This show is an invitational fine art exhibit.  Miniature works of art 9 x 12" or smaller will be sold through auction on April 4, 2008 at the Hilton Garden Inn at a ticketed event. Proceeds from the sale support the Hockaday's permanent acquisition fund.  Artwork may be previewed from March 20 online at www.hockadaymuseum.org.  Absentee bids are accepted from those unable to attend.
